September 2022 Supply Drop Off

Our Dental Committee has been working hard to transition back to in-person consultations to provide free dental services to our patients in Tijuana, México. Pictured below is one of of our consistent and wonderful dental provider volunteers: Dr. Kirkman along with her son and one of our 2022-2023 co-funding coordinators: Kimiya during our September 2022 Supply Drop Off. Make sure to join our dental committee to get hands-on experience!

June 2022 Telemedicine Clinic

During the COVID-19 pandemic we had to transition our in-person clinics to telemedicine clinics and supply drop offs. During telemedicine clinics, clinic coordinators put flying sammer’s into groups of 2-3 undergraduates and at times medical students and/or nurses. In these breakout rooms, 1 translator, 1 scribe, and 1 group leader work together to complete patients’ EHRs. Through a Whatsapp call, translators directly speak to patients while the scribe writes down the translations. Once the group is ready, the group leader informs the clinic coordinators so that a physician can enter the breakout room and speak with the patient(s). Undergraduate students are then able to shadow/scribe for the physicians during the consultation. Pictured below is one of our 2022-2023 clinic coordinators, Aileen (top left) with some of our June 2022 telemedicine volunteers: Leslie (top left), Angie (middle left), Emily (middle right), Catherine (bottom left), and Juan (bottom right)!

December 2019 Clinic

What a wonderful way to end the year! Our annual Christmas clinic went so well and we couldn’t have done it without the support and generosity of our student members. We received over 100 children’s toys to distribute at clinic as well as several full bags of clothing for adults.

Special thank you to our medical professional volunteers who traveled with us to serve the community of Rancho Escondido.
