June 2022 Telemedicine Clinic

During the COVID-19 pandemic we had to transition our in-person clinics to telemedicine clinics and supply drop offs. During telemedicine clinics, clinic coordinators put flying sammer’s into groups of 2-3 undergraduates and at times medical students and/or nurses. In these breakout rooms, 1 translator, 1 scribe, and 1 group leader work together to complete patients’ EHRs. Through a Whatsapp call, translators directly speak to patients while the scribe writes down the translations. Once the group is ready, the group leader informs the clinic coordinators so that a physician can enter the breakout room and speak with the patient(s). Undergraduate students are then able to shadow/scribe for the physicians during the consultation.
